David Shepherd – Mondelez International Research and Development Associate Director.
David is known and regarded as the UK’s Real Willy Wonka as he is responsible for creating and developing some of the world’s most famous chocolate bars at Cadburys.
David joined Cadbury over 20 years ago and in this time has created and launched many new Chocolate creations onto our shelves including Cadbury Brunch Bar , Cadbury Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations. David also helped launched Cadburys largest ever digital campaign.
David Shepherd may not be weird like the character played by Johnny Depp in the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film, but millions of chocolate lovers young and old would regard him as just as wonderful for the delicious range of Cadbury chocolate bars he lovingly conjures up.
David is as close to writer Roald Dahl’s fantasy creation of Willy Wonka as it is possible to get.
David is based in the Global Chocolate Research and Development Centre in Bournville and is responsible for a team of scientists and engineers developing new chocolates and recipes for the world.

The Cadbury brothers first began making chocolate at Birmingham in the 1870s and it remains the global headquarters for chocolate invention at Mondelēz International today – building on this heritage and celebrating new innovation.
Before joining Cadbury , David worked for Mcvities developing Biscuits and Cakes. He has a degree in Food Science from The University of Reading.
When he is not creating new snacking treats David enjoys growing his own food and is a keen allotment keeper.
